The magnolia I brought in last night has turned a light coffee color and smells lemony, peppery and floral-- all at once! Did I forget to put it in water? Impossible not to when it is such a glorious specimen. Still a wonder to look at...

Crush Over Camellias

I was just getting my mail and noticed these huge 9-inch magnolias which were in full bloom in my front yard:It had just rained and I just had to pluck it and enjoy its steamy freshness in the house...

CAMELIAS

I have to confess, I have a crush over camellias...maybe a nice pale pink or red...or a lovely hot pink... wish I had a green thumb!

Flower Urn Tapestry Cushion

I am so proud that I was able to find this quite autumnal looking floral urn tapestry cushion at a local Thrift was under $1.70!!! Love it love it love it...

Going Native...

I don't have their names for you but these four very handsome Native American chieftans in their rust plumes and autumnal tones must be celebrated this Fall!!!

this cushion is brilliant with its rusts, corals, teals and turquoise in a patchwork of Southwest Indian rugs...

MAD about Autumn!

A slight chill is in the air and I got out all of my Autumn and Halloween stuff, though keeping the kitschy Halloweeny stuff to a minimum this year, I felt compelled to add the fiery tones of oranges and copper at least in the kitchen...

copper molds...

hanging temple lanterns in saffron, apricot and a rich mulberry...it's all about the mini pumpkins here in crepe, plaster, plastic and even a candle! I love the little copper "Ibrik" - a Turkish coffee pot!

I love this coppery oak leaf garland and maple leaf clusters...

a jack-o-lantern pendant which rings like a bell and a companion necklace with three lanterns which jingle as well...some tree ornaments in autumnal colors which look like an artistic sculpture...

a favorite pumpkin jack-o-lantern, with the stalk still attached...

and this jack-o-lantern which sits by my very cool little Count Drakool...

and cards with Fall colors on orange chords with oak leaves added...

can't get enough...but this is a good start...bring it on!

Replete With Acorns!

My oaks are sending down these lovely acorns in torrents and the squirrels who call my place "home" are having quite a feast...I wonder if they're edible...so I googled it and it said, yes, it was perfectly OK and that they are highly nutritious on top of it all, but usually bitter! So I tried one, and it was raw in texture and terribly BITTER!!! Alas...no acorn nuts for snacking for me...thank you very much!

Mushroom Season

Labor Day has passed and it's officially Autumn I suppose... The most incredible crop of mushrooms have appeared around the oak trees in my front and back yards and which I would like to share with those who pause to enjoy them... I'll guarantee that these virtual varieties are harmless, the actual fungi, I'm not too sure about... ;-) Though you'll see that many of them have had chunks eaten out of them by birds or squirrels...hey where have those fuzzy critters gone to??? hehe...(I'm sure they're ok...)

I've kept the dialogue to a minimum to spare you reading too many titles or descriptions as the pictures speak for themselves...

cobalt cross-body purse

I've had this satiny cobalt colored shoulder bag since the 90's that I haven't worn much because it's awkward to clutch and hold it over the shoulder as I wear it(or it falls off!), and it's a bit too close to the arm pit and also rubs against the bust-uncomfortable when it's bulky, if you know what I mean, so I've neglected wearing it...

but the other day, I was looking for something and came across it and picking it up one strap fell and it hung long so I slung it over like a "cross-body" bag(body bag!)and it really worked just great! Now, I think it's going to be the most practical thing ever...imagine that...

as they say, "everything old is new again!"

So it always pays to look at things from a new perspective...
